Since nesting season has already begun in Florida, we wanted to remind you of a few ways that you can help!
Most importantly, if you encounter a nesting sea turtle, remember to keep your distance in order to give the turtle the space and time it needs to lay its eggs. The same rules apply for sea turtle hatchlings as this is the most crucial stage of their life. The best way to view sea turtles during nesting season is to find a turtle walk program near you!
You can also help by looking after the beach. Remember to turn off your lights at night, take your belongings with you, and fill in any holes that you may find. Keeping the beach dark, flat, and free of debris helps our turtles to safely return to the ocean.
