Congratulations to long-time Walton County Tax Collector Rhonda Skipper. For the second time, the tax collector’s office was ranked #11 as “Best Small Company to Work For” in the state of Florida. The annual Best Companies list is featured in the August issue of Florida Trend magazine. 100 companies are ranked in small, medium and large employer categories.
“This year we spoke with millennial employees of the”Best Companies to Work For” to get their perspectives on their workplaces and work experiences,” says Executive Editor Mark Howard. “It’s clear that the “Best Companies” know how to attract millennials and then engage them once they’ve been hired. Millennials want what every employee wants — a workplace environment that helps them be productive and a chance for input into how work gets done.”
“During my time as Tax Collector, Walton County has experienced unprecedented growth. During the last 2 years we needed to rapidly increase our workforce and have since managed to create a diverse staff with the bulk of our employees now being in the millennial category,” said Skipper. “I am very humbled that we have advanced our ranking to #11 “Best Small Company to Work For” in the State of Florida. I am impressed daily by the ideas and ingenuity of our millennials and the way they have formed cohesive teams with our baby boomer and Generation X staff. I look forward to the new challenges ahead and continuing to find new ways to provide the best work experience possible in a government setting for our employees.”
“These best companies have figured it out!” says Florida Trend publisher David Denor. “Providing their employees with an environment and culture that promotes growth both professionally and personally – all while delivering workplace benefits that lift employee morale and create loyalty… these best companies offer lessons we can all learn from.”
